Celebrating the Harvest of the Strawberry with great food, contests, shopping and exhibits with kids entertainment all Mothers Day Weekend

BerryFest is on May 12 and 13, 2012 at the Placer County Fairgrounds in Roseville on Washington Blvd. All locally grown, fresh Strawberries.  Local farmers will harvest extra strawberries just for us. These are certified organic and local from Placer County and some bordering counties such as Sacramento, El Dorado, Yuba  Santa Cruz and Sutter Counties. They will also pre-sell Strawberries at wholesale prices to the vendors of the festival to insure all Festival Strawberries are local grown.

All Strawberries are sold by the Farmers themselves.

Rustic Grains Re-Opens… Again!

 

 

For more than two weeks now Rustic Grains has been opening it’s doors daily to serve Roseville merchants and residents who have a taste for freshly baked pastries, breads and homemade sandwiches. This isn’t the first time Eli Frank, owner of Rustic Grains, has re-launched his “baby” but he’s confident that this re-launch will be the last and that the staff he has now and his savory products will serve as a foundation of goodness in the local area.

 

As an Old School baker, Eli always wanted to share his talent for baking and cooking outside of his close-knit circle of family and friends. Having prepared some of the finest food all around the world, Eli is now living his dream, having Rustic Grains Bakery in Downtown Roseville, California.

Eli grew up in Israel and spent countless days in the kitchen with his Mom and Aunt learning the art of cooking. When he was older he moved to New Zealand, where he groomed his passion for creating and discovering new and interesting foods. Today he is one of only a few bakers in town that sells freshly made breads and pastries that are created entirely from scratch. If you are new to Rustic Grains, please introduce yourself to Eli, as he loves to meet new people and share his food, stories, and his enthusiasm for life.

This week I was the recipient of a Barn Raising but instead of a barn it was my house and instead of a raising it was more of a razing and instead of building a place in which to put my cows, it was more along the lines of trying to sell it to avoid The New F Word- Foreclosure.

Until you’ve had a chance to see friends in action the way I have this week, you cannot fully appreciate the definition of the word friendship. It is true; When crisis strikes, we find out who our true friends are. Often if a crisis is bad enough, like when there’s a terrible illness or injury or even worse, when a loved one dies, our friends want to rally around- they are wringing their hands, wanting  to do something , anything. The truth is that most times, when an accident or injury or illness or death happens, there’s not one thing for the people who love us, to DO.

How to find it?

Catch the trail at Sculpture Park (behind The Home Depot on N. Sunrise Ave.) 

Go through some of Roseville’s most beautiful open space and wetland areas. Follow the Miner’s Ravine Trail all the way to Sierra College Boulevard or take the False Ravine Trail. Both trips are nearly three miles one-way.
