Rustic Grains Re-Opens… Again!
November 11, 2011 by Prime California · Leave a Comment

For more than two weeks now Rustic Grains has been opening it’s doors daily to serve Roseville merchants and residents who have a taste for freshly baked pastries, breads and homemade sandwiches. This isn’t the first time Eli Frank, owner of Rustic Grains, has re-launched his “baby” but he’s confident that this re-launch will be the last and that the staff he has now and his savory products will serve as a foundation of goodness in the local area.
As an Old School baker, Eli always wanted to share his talent for baking and cooking outside of his close-knit circle of family and friends. Having prepared some of the finest food all around the world, Eli is now living his dream, having Rustic Grains Bakery in Downtown Roseville, California.
Eli grew up in Israel and spent countless days in the kitchen with his Mom and Aunt learning the art of cooking. When he was older he moved to New Zealand, where he groomed his passion for creating and discovering new and interesting foods. Today he is one of only a few bakers in town that sells freshly made breads and pastries that are created entirely from scratch. If you are new to Rustic Grains, please introduce yourself to Eli, as he loves to meet new people and share his food, stories, and his enthusiasm for life.

Broke is the New Rich

This week I was the recipient of a Barn Raising but instead of a barn it was my house and instead of a raising it was more of a razing and instead of building a place in which to put my cows, it was more along the lines of trying to sell it to avoid The New F Word- Foreclosure.
Until you’ve had a chance to see friends in action the way I have this week, you cannot fully appreciate the definition of the word friendship. It is true; When crisis strikes, we find out who our true friends are. Often if a crisis is bad enough, like when there’s a terrible illness or injury or even worse, when a loved one dies, our friends want to rally around- they are wringing their hands, wanting to do something , anything. The truth is that most times, when an accident or injury or illness or death happens, there’s not one thing for the people who love us, to DO.
But in our house-crisis situation, there was not just one thing to do, but hundreds of things that my friends not only could do… READ MORE

How to find it?
Catch the trail at Sculpture Park (behind The Home Depot on N. Sunrise Ave.)
Go through some of Roseville’s most beautiful open space and wetland areas. Follow the Miner’s Ravine Trail all the way to Sierra College Boulevard or take the False Ravine Trail. Both trips are nearly three miles one-way.
One Of World’s Largest Banks Warns Of Punishment For Improper Foreclosure Practices In U.S.
February 28, 2011 by Prime California · Leave a Comment
HSBC North America Holdings, the nation’s ninth-largest bank by assets, warned investors Monday of impending fines after receiving notice from federal bank regulators admonishing the lender for improper foreclosure practices.
The bank is the latest in a string of large financial companies that have used recent securities filings to prep investors for fines and a significant increase in costs associated with processing mortgages and repossessing homes, after being cited by regulators for deficient and sometimes illegal operations. On Friday, Ally Financial, Wells Fargo & Co., and SunTrust Banks — three of the nation’s 10 largest handlers of home mortgages — said in regulatory documents that they expect to be sanctioned by the U.S. government for their foreclosure practices.
The penalties follow months-long criminal and civil probes by federal and state regulators into lenders’ mortgage practices. Officials said they found significant shortcomings and violations of various state laws. A “small number” of foreclosures should not have occurred, John Walsh, the interim head of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the federal regulator of national banks, told a Senate committee earlier this month after his agency surveyed less than 3,000 out of millions of loan files. BIGGEST HOME IN ROSEVILLE (2/18/11) – For Sale
February 22, 2011 by Prime California · Leave a Comment
I couldn’t help but think of my Dad when I found this home on MLS! He loves this neighborhood (Woodbridge Ranch) and he’s spent a lot of time with Todd looking at surrounding properties.
The BIGGEST HOME IN ROSEVILLE is actually not the most expensive home in Roseville, but has the most square feet in all of the homes for sale in the3 Roseville zip codes (95678, 95661, 95747). This home is a little under 6000 square feet (5900 actual) but it also has a 400 square foot pool house.I’m a
big fan of ponds and pools, which this house lays claim to, as well as a 5 acre lake. Of course, the BIGGEST HOME IN ROSEVILLE has to have it’s own steam shower, sauna, playhouse and sports court and be in close proximity of parks(2), tennis courts, equestrian area and walking trails. And to finish things off, it comes with 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms – Yikes, holy housecleaning!
How much for this home? $799,000
Did I mention it has a private gate?
It’s Good to Be King… and a First-Time Homebuyer!
February 18, 2011 by Prime California · Leave a Comment
First-time homebuyers NO LONGER need settle for “fixers” or “crackerboxes” when they shop for there first castle!
Last year, first-time buyers took advantage of state and federal programs that entitled them to GENEROUS REBATES when they bought a home. They also benefitted from ROCK-BOTTOM INTEREST RATES. Now, PRICES HAVE DROPPED so dramatically that first-time homebuyers can choose from homes with options they could never afford just two years ago.
Buyers are finding that they can move to better neighborhoods. “Buyers care about location and quality when buying real estate, no matter how many homes they’ve purchased in the past,” says Todd Slack, real estate specialist and broker of Prime California Homes and Lending. “Buyers also prefer to be in a good school district, close to work, and always love when they can get a better price than they expected.”
This is bad news for sellers who want to offload rundown properties. But this is good news for kings who are shopping for their first castle!
CHEAPEST HOME IN ROSEVILLE (01/18/11) – For Sale

Today we used Metrolist to find the most inexpensive home in Roseville. Why? Because we’re curious. We know that other folks would like to know as well. Also, it’s fun to see how Roseville measures up to surrounding areas like Granite Bay, Folsom, Rocklin, Loomis, Citrus Heights, etc. This is the result:
97K gets you 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fireplace and a living room and over a 1,000 square feet! You also get to eat dinner with your family in a dining room and park your car in the (2 car) garage – not bad! According to the listing details, the property has a large backyard and a covered patio and is within walking distance to (Kaseberg) school. Personally, I like the fact that it’s within walking distance to Old town Roseville – possibilities for a cocktail filled evening! How does this home compare to the MOST EXPENSIVE HOME IN ROSEVILLE (12/09/10)? The CHEAPEST HOME IN ROSEVILLE is priced $802,000 less, which means you could buy 8 of these homes for the price of one of those– HA!!!
MOST EXPENSIVE HOME IN ROSEVILLE – For Sale

Today we used our handy real estate tool (Metrolist) to find the most expensive home in Roseville. We’re doing this because we’re curious and we know that other folks would like to know as well. Also, it’s fun to see how Roseville measures up to surrounding areas like Granite Bay, Folsom, Rocklin, Loomis, Citrus Heights, etc.
This home is located in Whispering Canyon in East Roseville. Priced at $899,000 you get 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. I like the fact that it has a gameroom with a full bar and kegerator! The pebbletech pool in the backyard looks really cool. I also like the salt water feature for the pool. It overlooks a private greenbelt and bike trail and has an awesome view. Stunning views form all balconies! This property is a really good illustration of the current market in this price range, as it cost over $1.7 million to build in 2005, now reduced to sell for half that at $176/sf. This property is actually the second most expensive in Roseville, but the other home is a short sale, on the market for over 272 days and way over-priced
